Alejandro Valverde can use Google StreetView

And back to second. After yesterday’s win, normal service has resumed for Peter Sagan. He didn’t seem too bothered. I guess he’s used to it by now.

Alejandro Valverde was the latest person to take a turn at being the one person to finish ahead of Sagan. He checked out the up, up, down and then up finish on Google Streetview and kept himself at the front of the main bunch of contenders, holding everyone off to the line. It was pretty textbook and nowhere near as entertaining as his fourth place on the penultimate stage of the Tour de France.

Valverde moves up to fifth overall, but there are still loads of people within a minute of the lead, so I’m not going to start picking apart the general classification just yet. I suppose I could pick out a couple of people who won’t be competing though. Geraint Thomas isn’t really bothering and is already a few minutes back. Andrew Talansky is eight minutes down and out of it, whether or not he was ever planning on being in it.

Flat stage tomorrow. What order will Peter Sagan, John Degenkolb and Nacer Bouhanni finish in this time?

  1. It does seem as though Valverde should be assumed to be some kind of god-wizard for being able to operate StreetView.

    1. Only a man who spends thousands of hours a year cycling alone could possibly have the patience to slowly advance along an e-road metre by metre.

Yes, I know you can click further along the road to advance more quickly, but it’s amazing how slow it still is.

      1. The trick is to say “enhance” out loud before every click.

      2. Great reference and something I’ll employ in many computing tasks from now on.
